None of the other motivating tips on this post matter without respect. Creating a culture of respect means understanding how to best motivate each individual employee by genuinely caring about their happiness and their interest in success. Using tips and tricks to manipulate your employees into doing work they don’t want to do is disrespectful and probably won’t last very long.
We are teachers, inventors and chefs all rolled into one. We develop software that people can actually use to work or learn, programming languages, education software, apps etc. that are all useful to millions. We provide solutions and answers and with a few lines of code we can touch the world. Not bad for a day’s work.
Recognise hard work
Who doesn’t love recognition. Regardless of what they’re doing if they’ve done a good job don’t let it go unnoticed. Establish a culture of recognition where people regularly thank each other and express gratitude to their team mates and staff. This ultimately makes for a happier workforce.
Provide opportunities for growth
If they aren’t growing, their going so provide opportunities for your software developers to grow and innovate. This will keep them motivated and interested in sticking around. Work with your developers to understand their career goals and provide opportunities for them to keep innovating through fun activities and events like hackathons.
